About
A little bit about Phill and the ultramarathon.life project in general

Hey! I’m Phill,
I ran length of Japan
I’m just an ordinary 40-something year-old bloke. For years had the pipe-dream of running the length of a country (or two) and setting something like this up. So, after a miserable day at work, I thought to myself, why not.
Here are five things about me:

The Philosophy Behind ultramarathon.life
Just go out and do the thing
It’s not that hard
I’ve never really worried about just going out and trying something that I felt was worth doing. In the spirit of what can possibly go wrong, I’ve found out that many things can go wrong, but I’ve never regretted trying those things anyway.
Anyone can go out and set off on a mad adventure. You don’t need to be wealthy, you don’t need to be an elite athlete, you don’t even need a fully thought-out plan. I didn’t have any of those things, and I managed to run the length of Japan. The proof of my approach can be found on YouTube and Instagram, it may not be the polished, hypermasculine endurance porn that gets popular, but it does capture what a fairly ordinary bloke manages to do with limited resources. I hope that it helps you take action towards whatever it is you dream to do. And if it doesn’t, I hope my ill-advised adventures give you a good chuckle now and again. But whatever the case, for what it’s worth, I’d say go out and try and do the thing. What’s the worst that could happen?
